Who We Work With
We work with professionals across the art and design world. Below is a closer look at how we partner with each type of client and what we bring to those relationships.
Custom Framing for Interior Designers
Interior designers throughout NYC come to Woodman Frames because they need a framing partner who understands that the frame is part of the design - not an afterthought. We work with designers at every stage of a project, from initial concept and material selection to final installation coordination.
The challenge most designers face with framers is inconsistency: inconsistent finishes across a collection, missed timelines, and having to manage multiple vendors for framing and printing. We solve that by being a single point of contact for both custom framing and archival print services, holding finish specifications on file for repeat use, and building every frame to the same exacting standard regardless of whether it is a single piece or a 30-piece installation.
Designers most often use us for custom wood and metal floater frames, archival matting and glazing for works on paper, archival printing and cold mounting for photographic and digital editions, and gallery-wall installations requiring consistent specifications across multiple pieces. What sets us apart is that we mill everything in house from solid wood with hand-fitted spline joints - no chop-and-join shortcuts - and we are close to Manhattan, making studio visits and coordination straightforward.
Framing Services for Art Advisors
Art advisors trust us with works that matter - pieces purchased at auction, primary market acquisitions, and collection-level commissions where the framing decision affects both the presentation and the long-term preservation of the work. We understand that an advisor's reputation is on the line with every recommendation they make, and we treat every project accordingly.
The challenges advisors bring to us most often involve conservation requirements, bespoke presentation for specific works, and coordinating framing across multiple client collections simultaneously. We are fluent in archival standards - 100% cotton rag matboard, reversible hinging, UV-protective glazing, and fully reversible mounting systems - and we can document our materials and methods for provenance purposes when required.
Art advisors most frequently use our custom fine art framing, conservation-grade matting and glazing, floater frames for stretched canvases, and coordination with art handlers and logistics teams. Our appointment-only model means every consultation gets our full attention, and our LIC location gives advisors and their clients a quiet, professional environment to review work and discuss options without the chaos of a retail framing shop.
Gallery & Exhibition Framing
NYC galleries work with us for the quality and reliability that exhibition framing demands. When a show opens on a fixed date and the framing needs to look impeccable across 20 pieces, there is no room for inconsistency. We bring the production discipline and material standards that gallery-level presentation requires.
The key challenges galleries face are tight exhibition timelines, the need for consistency across a body of work, and framing solutions that serve the art without overpowering it. We address these by offering priority scheduling for trade partners, holding specification standards across a series, and drawing on a deep knowledge of how different frame profiles and materials interact with different types of work - paintings, works on paper, photography, and mixed media.
Galleries most often come to us for custom wood frames and floaters, works on paper presentation, photography and edition framing, and installation coordination. We also offer archival giclee printing for galleries that need to produce exhibition prints in-house or on behalf of artists. What makes us different is that we approach every gallery project the way a conservator would - with attention to reversibility, material integrity, and long-term preservation alongside the immediate presentation goals.
Architectural Framing Projects
Architects engage us when a project calls for framing and art presentation that integrates with the built environment - corporate lobbies, hospitality spaces, private residences, and institutional collections where the framing needs to feel architectural rather than decorative.
The challenge for architects is finding a framing partner who can execute at the scale and precision that architectural projects require, hold to specifications across large commissions, and coordinate with construction and installation timelines. We work comfortably at oversized scales, offer metal frame profiles alongside our custom wood options, and can coordinate with your project manager, art consultant, and installation team to make sure framing arrives on schedule and is ready to hang.
Architects most often use us for large-format and oversized custom framing, metal and mixed-material frame profiles, cold mounting and substrate mounting for graphics and prints, and multi-piece installations with consistent specifications. Our in-house production means we are not dependent on outside suppliers for lead times, which gives us more control over delivery windows than most framers can offer.
Corporate Collection Framing
Companies building or maintaining art collections need a framing partner who can handle volume, maintain consistency, and treat every piece with the care it deserves. Whether you are installing art across a new office fit-out, rotating works in an existing collection, or commissioning framing for a permanent installation, we bring the systems and standards that corporate collection management requires.
The challenges corporate clients typically face are scale, coordination, and accountability. Large collections mean many pieces moving through production simultaneously, often across different locations or phases of a project. We manage this through clear documentation, specification records, and a dedicated point of contact for every account. We also work directly with your facilities team, art consultant, and installation crew to make the logistics as smooth as possible.
Corporate collections most often use us for framing original works and editions across office environments, cold mounting and substrate work for graphics and branded installations, archival printing for reproductions and photography commissions, and ongoing maintenance framing as collections evolve. For clients with significant volume, we offer volume pricing beyond the standard trade rate, discussed based on the scope of the relationship.
